The former presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dumebi Kachikwu, has claimed that the ex-National Chairman of the party, Ralph Nwosu, sold the opposition party.

NOP NIGERIA reports that Kachikwu made the allegation on Thursday while speaking at a press conference in Abuja, regarding the  Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s recent position that it has ceased recognising the National Executive Council (NEC) led by David Mark and will not recognise any faction until pending court cases are resolved.

Kachikwu backed INEC’s decision to suspend recognition of the party’s leadership, describing the development as the latest phase of a protracted leadership dispute within the party.

According to him, Nwosu, whose tenure had expired, sold the ADC to men who had destroyed their parties.

Kachikwu also questioned the political actors’ decision to align with the ADC despite ongoing legal disputes over its leadership.

He said, “Ralph Nwosu, whose tenure lapsed on the 21st of August 2022, sold the ADC to men who had destroyed their parties.

“Jumping from political party to political party, no ideology, no belief system, standing for nothing. Why the ADC?

“These men knew that there were myriad issues plaguing the ADC, yet they came.

“The only possible explanation is that there is a conspiracy to make a fool of us all. What we have here is that Atiku and his co-travelers have paved the way for a smooth run for President Tinubu.

“Why are we talking about resignation in 2025? That does not make sense, you can’t build something on nothing.”

Kachikwu also questioned INEC’s handling of the matter, stressing that previous court orders regarding the party had not been enforced.

He stated, “The same INEC had several court orders concerning the ADC since 2022, but didn’t recognise any of them.”

The ADC chieftain also expressed doubts about the outcome of ongoing litigation, suggesting that multiple cases may eventually reach the Supreme Court.

He added, “There are several court cases that will end at the Supreme Court.”
