The Lagos State Government has dismissed reports alleging that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been asked to resign on health grounds.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, the government described the report as false and misleading.
Akosile said no such directive had been given to Governor Sanwo-Olu, insisting that the claim was “fake news” and part of a pattern of misinformation.
He stated that the governor is in good health, mentally sound, and actively carrying out his responsibilities as the leader of Lagos State.
The statement also clarified that earlier in the day, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu received his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, who paid a courtesy visit to inform him of his intention to contest for governor in the future.
According to the government, the meeting was cordial and consistent with normal political engagements.
The government urged the public to disregard the report, describing it as baseless and intended to mislead residents of Lagos State.
