The Nigeria Immigration Service has condemned allegations of extortion involving its personnel along the Lagos–Seme border corridor and ordered an immediate investigation into the matter.
In a statement issued Friday in Abuja, the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nanna Nandap, described the alleged conduct as unacceptable, stressing that it violates the core values and professional standards of the Service.
The Service said it had taken swift action by temporarily relieving the Comptrollers in charge of the affected commands of their duties, while a full-scale investigation has been launched to identify all officers involved.
According to the statement, the aim is to ensure that anyone found culpable faces appropriate disciplinary measures without delay.
The Immigration Service reiterated its commitment to professionalism, transparency, and accountability at all entry and exit points across the country, adding that it will not tolerate actions capable of undermining public trust.
It also urged members of the public to continue reporting misconduct through its official communication channels, including its verified social media platforms and 24-hour contact lines.
The Service assured Nigerians that internal monitoring mechanisms are being strengthened to improve service delivery and uphold integrity in all operations.
