President Bola Tinubu has commissioned the headquarters of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) in Abuja, declaring that no nation can achieve lasting prosperity with a weak and fragmented revenue system.

Speaking at the event on Tuesday, Tinubu said the commissioning represented more than the unveiling of a building, describing it as a key milestone in his administration’s fiscal reform agenda aimed at improving transparency, efficiency, and public trust in taxation.

He said the government had embarked on broad tax reforms to simplify processes, remove distortions, and create a fairer system that supports investment and economic growth.
According to him, early results of the reforms are already visible in improved fiscal stability and rising investor confidence.

Tinubu also described the new NRS headquarters as a symbol of professionalism and accountability, urging the agency to focus not only on revenue collection but also on building trust with citizens.

He reaffirmed his commitment to economic reforms, saying his administration remains focused on strengthening institutions and ensuring inclusive development.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio praised the president’s reforms, saying they had significantly boosted revenue generation and strengthened fiscal performance at both national and state levels.

He also commended Tinubu’s leadership style and said the government’s approach reflected true federalism and improved coordination of revenue systems.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, also described the new headquarters as a reflection of institutional discipline, noting that the 2025 tax reforms had improved efficiency and revenue collection.

He said the National Assembly would continue to provide oversight to ensure the reforms are properly implemented.

The Managing Director of CCECC Nigeria, Guan Shuai, praised the project’s execution and credited the timely completion of the building to close coordination with the NRS leadership.

The new headquarters is part of ongoing efforts by the federal government to modernise Nigeria’s revenue system and strengthen fiscal governance.
