Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri paid an official visit to the United Arab Emirates on May 7, 2026, where he held meetings with senior leadership and reviewed the full spectrum of India-UAE bilateral cooperation.

During the visit, Misri met Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State and Special Envoy for India, as well as Khaldoon Al Mubarak, Managing Director and CEO of Mubadala Investment Company.

In discussions with Reem Al Hashimy, the two sides reviewed progress on decisions taken during the visit of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to India in January 2026 and the visit of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in February 2026.
They assessed ongoing cooperation across key areas including trade, investment, economic cooperation, energy, connectivity, defence and security, fintech, health, education, culture and people-to-people ties. The review built on outcomes from the 16th Joint Commission Meeting and the 5th Strategic Dialogue co-chaired by India’s External Affairs Minister and the UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs in December 2025. Both sides also identified new initiatives to further strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The two sides exchanged views on the prevailing situation in the West Asia region and other regional and global issues of mutual interest.

During the visit, the Foreign Secretary also participated in a trilateral meeting under the India–France–UAE framework along with Reem Al Hashimy and Martin Briens, Secretary General of France’s Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. The three sides reaffirmed their commitment to the trilateral partnership and agreed on a structured roadmap with defined timelines.
