In a post on Truth Social, Trump said talks with Iran in Islamabad had made progress on several issues but ultimately failed on what he called the “only point that really mattered — Nuclear.” He stated that Iran was “unwilling to give up its nuclear ambitions” and reiterated that “Iran will never have a nuclear weapon.”
Announcing immediate action, Trump said the US Navy would begin the process of blockading ships trying to enter or leave the strait.
He added that US forces would seek to interdict vessels in international waters that had paid what he termed an “illegal toll” to Iran, and would also begin destroying mines that he claimed Tehran had laid in the waterway.

Trump accused Iran of causing “anxiety, dislocation, and pain” globally and described the situation as “world extortion,” while warning that any Iranian action against US or commercial vessels would be met with force.
He further said the US military was “fully locked and loaded” and warned it would “finish up the little that is left of Iran” if provoked.
Referring to the diplomatic effort, Trump said the Islamabad talks lasted nearly 20 hours and involved US officials, including JD Vance, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who he said briefed him on the outcome.
He also praised Pakistan’s leadership, including Asim Munir and Shehbaz Sharif, for facilitating the talks.

Trump additionally claimed he had been thanked for preventing a potential war with India that could have resulted in “30 to 50 million” deaths, though he did not provide further details.
In a series of sweeping assertions, Trump claimed that Iran’s military capabilities had been largely destroyed, saying its navy and air force were “gone” and its air defence systems “useless,” though these claims could not be independently verified.
He also named Iranian representatives at the talks, including Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, Abbas Araghchi and Ali Bagheri, describing the discussions as lengthy but ultimately unyielding on the nuclear issue.
While indicating that normal maritime movement could resume “at some point,” Trump said Iran must first act to fully reopen the international waterway, warning that it would not be allowed to “profit” from what he called an illegal act.
