Turns out, the 8 pm ET deadline on Tuesday, April 7, (5:30 am IST on Wednesday, April 8) is not the only thing on President Trump’s schedule.
Trump is scheduled to have a dinner with US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor at 7 pm ET (4:30 am IST) at the White House.
While the agenda of the meeting at the dinner is not known, reports suggest that the meeting could be significant in terms of looking at an end to the war, as per News18.
Gor is on a visit to the US and has held meetings with Indian Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra, US Vice President JD Vance, and FBI chief Kash Patel.

Before the 8 pm Tuesday deadline, Trump had given 48 hours for Iran to finalise the ceasefire plan. That deadline was supposed to end on Monday at 10 am ET.
Before this, last week, Trump had written on Truth Social that “48 hours” were going to be critical for the war, as he claimed that the US and Iran were discussing to halt the war. Pakistan later said that the talks were happening with its mediation.
Iran’s foreign minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, however, said there were no active discussions happenings, only a few messages were being exchanged through the mediators.
What will happen if Trump’s deadline to Iran get over?
Trump, in a strong-worded post on Truth Social, warned Tehran to open the Strait of Hormuz before the deadline set by him.
Otherwise, Iran’s bridges and power plants will be targeted by the US military, which will not be left in conditions to be used again.

Tehran has maintained that it wants a complete end to the war, not just a ceasefire. As per reports, the mediators have been trying for a 45-day ceasefire, which would lead to a halt in military operations directly, and then terms for a long lasting peace will be discussed.
What is happening in Iran before Trump’s deadline?
Efforts to protect the critical energy infrastructure are undergoing in Iran as the authorities reportedly seek people’s support as the deadline looms.
Iran’s Ministry of Sports and Youth has reportedly urged country’s athletes, artists and students to form human-chains around the critical power and energy buildings.
Iranian musician Ali Ghamsari, a composer and Tar player, also announced that he will stay at Damavand power plant which is responsible for providing about half of Tehran’s electricity to help prevent attacks on Iran’s infrastructure, Iran’s Embassy in Australia said.
