The University of Calabar (UniCal) would on Friday, April 10, 2026, award Bachelor degrees and National Diplomas to 10,820 students in its 38th Convocation ceremony.
The vice chancellor of the institution, Professor Offiong Offiong, who made this known during a pre-convocation press conference in Calabar, Thursday, said out of the said number, 9,173 students would graduate with First Degree, 1,495 with Postgraduates while Diploma students constitute the remaining 152.
“Of the 9,173, First Degree graduates, 52 made First Class, 2,390 fell into second class upper division, 5,819 backed second-class lower division, while 666 made third class, and 246 made pass,” he stated.
He enumerated activities lined up for the week-long event to include inter-denominational service, research fair and exhibition, convocation lecture, command performance, Gala Night, award of PhD and honorary degrees, and launching of endowment fund/induction into UniCal alumni, amongst others.
Prof. Offiong warned against ills which plagued the institution in the past and which portrayed it in bad light, noting that the university was “determined to commit energy to confront those awful and damaging perennial practices.”
