
The Headquarters Western Naval Command (HQ WNC) of the Nigerian Navy on Saturday, carried out its first quarter route march as part of activities outlined in the Navy’s 2026 Schedule of Events.
The early morning exercise brought together officers and ratings who participated actively, showcasing endurance, discipline, and unity in line with the service’s operational standards.
Representing the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral AA Mustapha, the Chief Staff Officer (CSO), Rear Admiral NC Ekwom, commended personnel for their strong turnout and resilience throughout the march.
He emphasized that physical fitness remains a vital element of operational effectiveness, noting that routine drills such as route marches help sustain fighting spirit, sharpen mental alertness, and promote overall wellbeing—especially amid evolving maritime security demands.
Rear Admiral Ekwom further urged personnel to uphold professionalism, discipline, and teamwork in the discharge of their duties, stressing that such values are key to achieving the Command’s objectives.
The exercise concluded without any incident or casualty, underscoring the Western Naval Command’s commitment to maintaining a fit, disciplined, and mission-ready force.
