The Zamfara state House of Assembly, Wednesday suspended the chairmen of Bukuyum and Kaura Namoda local government areas of the state.

Their suspension followed allegations of misappropriation of funds and disrespect for the assembly and the state government under the leadership of Governor Dauda Lawal.

The suspension was announced by Speaker R. Hon Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, Wednesday.

“The chairmen, Hon Umar A Faru (Bukuyum) and Hon Mannir Muazu Haidara (Kaura Namoda), are accused of financial misconduct,” said Hon. Moriki

The assembly has tasked deputy chairmen to oversee the LGAs pending investigations.

The move follows a report by the assembly’s committee on local government and chieftaincy affairs, which highlighted the alleged wrongdoing.

Blueprint reports that the suspension of the Bukkuyum local government chairman followed his resistance publicly to join Governor Lawal to APC which he said he will not do until the state and federal government show commitment to restore peace in his area.
