Super Eagles of Nigeria goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye is in line to reclaim his starting role for Udinese when they host Como in Serie A later today, April 6.

NOP NIGERIA reports that Maduka Okoye withdrew from international duty earlier in the month after suffering a thigh problem in training. He had played in the Super Eagles’ 2-1 win over Iran but was released before the 2-2 draw against Jordan.

Udinese head coach Kosta Runjaic offered a positive squad update ahead of the fixture, with Okoye not listed among the players carrying fitness concerns.

The Italian side trained with a near full squad on Saturday, their first session together since the international break.

“Apart from Jordan Zemura, Adam Buksa and Alessandro Zanoli, everyone else is available. Today (Saturday) we finally had everyone back together after the international break. Buksa is getting better and I hope he’ll start training with the team again next week,” he told the club’s website.

Runjaic also confirmed that Keinan Davis will miss the match through suspension, while Jesper Karlstrom is walking a disciplinary tightrope.

He said, “Keinan Davis is a very important player for us but unfortunately he’s suspended for this one. Jesper Karlström is also close to a suspension, but he has been careful not to get booked recently. In any case, we have alternatives. Davis is not easy to replace as we don’t have another player like him in the squad. We’ve tried different solutions and we’ll see on Monday.”

Okoye has made 22 league appearances this season and kept six clean sheets. He is playing a prominent role in Udinese’s push away from the relegation zone.
