
Kwara Citizens Movement for Ethical Politics and Good Governance has called on President Bola Tinubu to avert what it called “political suicide” in Kwara state ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The group raised the alarm against the backdrop of gale of purported endorsements of governorship aspirants by various political group including the latest endorsement of Senator Saliu Mustapha by Ilorin Emirate Political Advisory Council (IEPAC).
The group stated this in a statement on Thursday jointly signed by Alhaji Abdulhakeem Gafar -Kwara Central), Hajii Nana-Hawau Alabidun – Kwara Central, Honourable Mathew Segun- Kwara South (Ex-super) and Awwal Adamu Aka Matachi Ndoro – Kwara North.
It stated that it was “compelled, in the overriding public interest and in defence of truth, integrity, and the future of Kwara state, to raise a loud and urgent alarm over the dangerous political scheming currently being orchestrated by some interest groups and their collaborators to manipulate the 2027 governorship process in Kwara state.
“This is no longer politics.This is an attempt to deceive the presidency. This is an attempt to blackmail the leadership of the All Progressives Congress and hoodwink Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
The group called on President Tinubu, Governor AbdulRazaq, and the national leadership of the APC to immediately subject all aspirants to a rigorous integrity, loyalty, and background screening.
