The Lagos State Government on Thursday disclosed that 28,000 trucks have registered on the Lekki-Epe e-call-up system.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, made this known on Thursday in a statement he issued to newsmen.
Osiyemi said that he, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Olawale Musa, Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), terminal operators, and other stakeholders held a status review meeting on the Lekki-Epe e-call-up system.
“The routine engagement which was held in the Ministry of Transportation afforded opportunity to review developments and challenges surrounding the success of the e-call-up system around the Dangote Refinery, Lekki Free Zone and the Lekki Deep Sea Port area,” he said.
The Commissioner said that the e-call-up consultant, while giving updates on the level of compliance with the system, mentioned that about 11,000 transporters had registered with 28,000 trucks.
On the challenges raised over trucks accessing the corridor without a call-up system, Osiyemi assured that sustainable enforcement measures would soon be deployed to ensure seamless movement.
In attendance at the meeting were Olalekan Bakare-Oki, General Manager, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA). and Director of Transport Operations of the ministry, Olasunkanmi Ojowuro.
Others were e-call-up consultants, the leadership of NUPENG, terminal operators, and Directors of the Ministry of Transportation among other transport stakeholders.
