3 Men Docked For Swindling Man Of N35m Under False Pretence

Three men have been arrested and charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court over allegations of conspiracy, obtaining money under false pretence and stealing involving N35m in Lagos State. 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the  defendants were Arishe Emmanuel Henry,33, Ekujumi Olabode, 35, and Farotimi Gbenga Moses, 49.

The defendants were charged before the Court in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred on 24th April, 2026, at Oba Akran Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos.

According to the Police, the defendants and others now at large conspired to commit felony, to wit stealing, contrary to Section 411 and punishable under Section 412 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.

The Police alleged that the defendants fraudulently obtained N35,000,000 from one Buman Jachi under the pretence of selling a 2022 Lexus RX 350, which turned out to be false.

This is contrary to Section 313 and punishable under Section 314 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.

They were also charged for stealing the money belonging to Buman Jachi, contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.

However, they pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ihkayere, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted them bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
