Nollywood actress and former BBNaija star Eriata Ese has advised women against cheating on their husbands as a form of payback.
In a video on her Instagram page, she explained that using cheating as a retaliation after betrayals in relationships only deepens emotional pain and does not fix anything.
She noted how many women give their best in marriage and still experience betrayal, but warned that listening to people encouraging revenge through cheating wouldn’t bring closure or healing.
Eriata stressed that cheating only worsens the pain of betrayal while delaying emotional healing and making it harder to recognise red flags in future relationships.
She added that the real revenge is self-growth, encouraging women to heal and grow mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, and to choose partners who genuinely love, respect, and value them.
“Women are being betrayed despite giving their best in marriage, and sadly, broken people are busy advising them to cheat back.
Cheating back will never give you closure. The moment you do it, you return to the same painful feeling of betrayal your husband caused you. Not only that, but you also end up proving to yourself that you do not value yourself enough to heal properly. Instead, you begin expecting someone else to fill that emotional vacuum, but the truth is, they never really do.
It is all temporary, and in the process, you deprive yourself of true healing. You may even continue attracting the same type of men because you never healed enough to recognise a red flag disguised as green.
Your biggest payback is becoming a version of yourself that even he cannot reach. Physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually upgrading yourself. Know God more deeply than you used to, and take your time to choose someone ordained by God; someone who will truly love, respect, understand, value, and adore you.

A few weeks ago, the BBNaija star came for a lady for criticising those who give birth outside wedlock. Ese said that although marriage is a good thing, many people don’t know why others choose a certain path. She noted how people tell women in their 30s to have kids, even if they can’t find a husband, and then condemn them when they finally do. She further noted that when they finally find love, people question whether the man didn’t find younger girls to date.
During a bitter exchange with a troll, the former BBNaija star said marriage isn’t a flex, and questioned what the critic had achieved with her marriage certificate.
Clarifying her statement, in a follow-up post, she said she would never say marriage wasn’t a flex in a serious conversation, as she grew up in a loving home and knows how important family is. Eriata said only a damaged person will say a good marriage isn’t a flex.
