The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade at the weekend, described the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba, Iba Gani Adams, as a focused and committed fighter.
Oba Owoade said this in a statement on Saturday by his director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaye to commemorate Iba Adams’ 56th birthday.
The Alaafin stressed that Iba Gani Adams stands as “a dogged fighter who is focused, committed and whose unrelenting efforts and sense of devotion in the vanguard of making Yoruba traditional religion a reference point in global circles is inspiring, laudable and worthy of emulation.”
He emphasised that the choice of Iba Gani Adams as the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland was as a result of his unflinching commitment in confronting thewestern world, through the Oodua Peoples Union (OPU) against misleading ,and encouraging Africans to disrespect, dishonour and abandon their cultural heritage.
“He continues to fight even when facing insurmountable odds, and walking through pain, ignoring fatigue, and keeps moving forward, regardless of the situation. He is indeed a Generalissimo with endless cardio and can maintain pressure for a long duration, making him effective over time,” the monarch stated.
