CCTV footage captured a suspicious man entering an estate in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County, while tenants were away.

The man, said to be a notorious thief in the area, was seen in the footage walking slowly through the gate while surveying the compound.

He looked both ways to ensure no one was watching before moving towards the hanging lines located at the centre of the houses.

Dressed casually in grey sweatpants and a black jumper, he walked calmly and without rushing, passing the first clothesline before moving to the next, where he stood for a few minutes before making his move.

He carefully removed one piece of clothing from the line and began walking towards the gate with it.

According to reports, the suspect had allegedly been stealing clothes in Iten’s Mwisho wa Lami area. He is said to have been selling the stolen clothes during Iten market days but had yet to be arrested.
