More than 32,000 cyclists are expected to ride through all five boroughs Sunday, May 3, for the annual Five Boro Bike Tour, prompting extensive street closures across New York City.
The event begins in Manhattan, with bicyclists concluding their journey across the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge to Fort Wadsworth.
What is the route?
The 40-mile tour spans the city’s five boroughs, beginning in lower Manhattan, traveling north into the Bronx, heading into Queens and then into Brooklyn. Bicycle riders then cross the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge and conclude in St. George near the Staten Island Ferry.
What about the Finish Festival?
The Finish Festival will be held at Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The bridge that connects Staten Island and Brooklyn will be open on Sunday, but with significant closures to accommodate the bike tour. Motorists should expect delays.
The Staten Island-bound lower level of the bridge will be closed to vehicles from 12:01 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
The Staten Island-bound upper level of the Verrazzano will remain open during the event, but will only accessible from 92nd Street and the Belt Parkway entrance ramps.
Some exits near the bridge may also experience some closures.
