Anambra Begins Distribution of Learning Materials to Public Basic Schools

The Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) has commenced the distribution of learning materials to public basic education schools across the state as part of efforts to strengthen teaching and learning in classrooms.

The initiative, which is being carried out in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), is aimed at supporting the education reforms introduced by the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony in Awka, the Executive Chairman of ASUBEB, Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu, said the distribution exercise reflects the government’s commitment to improving the quality of education in the state and creating a better learning environment for pupils and teachers.

According to her, the materials being distributed include textbooks, exercise books, charts, digital learning devices, school bags, sports equipment and other instructional resources meant to enhance classroom teaching and learning activities.

She explained that the intervention would help schools deliver quality education while also supporting the state government’s vision of building a modern and technology-driven education sector.

“The aim is to ensure that pupils in public schools have access to quality learning materials that will improve their academic performance and make learning more effective,” she stated.

Officials of the board noted that the materials would be distributed to primary and junior secondary schools across the 21 local government areas of the state.

Representatives of UBEC who attended the event reportedly urged school administrators and teachers to ensure the proper use of the materials for the benefit of students, stressing that the resources were provided to directly improve learning outcomes.

The latest intervention forms part of Governor Soludo’s wider education transformation agenda, which includes the recruitment of teachers, introduction of smart schools, digital learning initiatives and policies aimed at improving access to free and quality education in Anambra State.
