The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared Senator Solomon Adeola as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Ogun State following the conclusion of the party’s primary election.
Chairman of the APC governorship primary election committee in the state, Wale Ohu, announced the result late Thursday at the party’s secretariat in Abeokuta after collation of results from the 20 local government areas of the state.
According to Ohu, a total of 343,292 party members were registered for the exercise, while 305,287 voters were accredited to participate in the primary.
He said Adeola secured 304,055 votes to defeat fellow aspirant, Abayomi Hunye, who recorded no vote.
“There were two contestants. Senator Solomon Adeola scored 304,055 votes while Mr Abayomi Hunye polled zero,” Ohu said.
“With these results, I hereby announced that the winner of today’s contest is senator Solomon Adeola and to represent the party in the 2027 governorship election in the state.”
Adeola also confirmed his emergence in a post shared on his X handle on Friday, May 22, where he described the primary as historic.
“Yesterday, I emerged as the @OfficialAPCNg gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 Ogun Governorship election after an historic primary with 304,055 votes alongside the clear backing of party leadership of the State Gov., @DapoAbiodunCON. I thank Almighty God, and to our party,” he wrote.
The senator also acknowledged the support of Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, and the party leadership following his victory in the primary election.
