Early Life & Biography
Lolo Jones was born on 5 August 1982 in Des Moines, Lowa. In the presence of her single mother, she attended eight schools in eight years. During her childhood days, her father was in the Air Force. Her family settled in the basement of a Des Moines Salvation Army church. When Jone’s family was about to make another movie, in Forest City, Lowa, Jones told her mother, “Mom, I can’t go to a city that doesn’t have a track. I am trying to pursue my dream”.
During her junior years, she lived with the family of medical writing consultant Marilyn K. Hauk. Her family became part of a community that nurtured her, which included teachers at Roosevelt High School who made sure that she put together the right classes to be ready for college. Career
Jones started the 2008 season on a positive note of making the 2008 Summer Olympics. On February 12, she was named USA Track & Field’s Athlete of the Week for her performance in Karlsruhe. At the 2008 USA Indoor Championships, Jones won her second straight national championship with a time of 7.88 seconds at the World Indoor Championships in Spain.
At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Jones win the 100-meter hurdles. She faced a bit of strong competition on the European circuit. Jones ranked third at the London Grand Prix behind Sally McLellan and Perdita Felicien. The 2009 season was largely disappointing for Jones as she suffered many injuries. Although she runs the second-fastest time that season. On August 6, at the London Olympics, Jones won her heat in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 12.68 s.
