Lagos State lawmaker and member of the All Progressives Congress, Desmond Elliot, has accused party officials of preventing his supporters from participating in the APC primary election in Lagos.
The lawmaker made the allegation after arriving at the Paddington Mini Stadium alongside his supporters and political associates for the exercise.
According to Elliot, several of his supporters were denied entry into the venue despite repeated appeals to electoral officials to grant them access to vote.
He claimed that all efforts to resolve the situation peacefully proved unsuccessful, as officials allegedly ignored his complaints throughout the process.
The development triggered tension at the venue, with some of his supporters staging a peaceful protest before gradually leaving the area with the lawmaker.
Elliot explained that he decided to exit the venue to avoid any possible breakdown of law and order, stressing that no election was worth the loss of lives.
The primary election was eventually disrupted as disagreements intensified over the alleged exclusion of some party members from the voting process.
