APGA Expelled Ralph Nwosu, Obi Didn’t Contest Any Primary With Him, He Was No Match For Obi- Umeh

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Victor Umeh, has dismissed claims by Ralph Nwosu that he defeated Peter Obi in an APGA governorship primary before the 2003 election in Anambra State.…....

Speaking during an interview on SYMFONI TV, Umeh said Obi never contested any primary election against Nwosu in APGA. According to him, the party had already expelled Nwosu and another member, Abdullahi, during the party convention held in 2003.

Umeh explained that the convention was the same event where he was asked to return as the party’s National Treasurer after previously leaving the position to serve as National Chairman for the South-East.

He said the recent claims by Nwosu were false and misleading, adding that there was never a direct contest between him and Obi for the party’s governorship ticket.

Umeh also stated that Nwosu could not match Obi in terms of political influence, resources, connections, focus, integrity, and character at the time.

The former senator maintained that Obi emerged in APGA based on his strength and support within the party, not because anyone stepped down for him.

In his words, “The party expelled Ralph Nwosu and his co-traveler, Abdullahi, two of them were expelled from the party. Peter Obi didn’t contest any primary with Ralph Nwosu. Nwosu was no match to Peter Obi in that contest for the APGA ticket, not in terms of resources, connections.”
