Iran’s foreign minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said that the Strait of Hormuz is open for all commercial ships provided they coordinate with the Iranian naval forces.

“The Strait of Hormuz is suffering first and most from the US aggression and the blockade that they have imposed on it,” Araghchi told Iran’s PressTV on the sidelines of the BRICS Foreign Ministers Meeting in New Delhi on Thursday, May 14.

“As far as we are concerned, the Strait of Hormuz is open for all commercial vessels but they need to cooperate with our navy forces,” he added.
Araghchi further said that Iran has “not made any obstacles”, it is Americans who have made a blockade and “I hope that could end by the removal of the illegal blockade imposed by Americans.”
Iran is against ‘illegal expansionism’, Araghchi says at BRICS

Araghchi also addressed the members of the BRICS and slammed the US attacks on Iran. He said that regional instability is a “lose-lose” position for all the countries.

“As you have all witnessed, my country has within the span of less than a year twice been subjected to brutal and unlawful aggression by the United States and Israel,” Araghchi said, as per a report by Al Jazeera.

“The attacks on my people have been justified with false claims that run counter to the informed assessments of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and even America’s own intelligence community,” he added.

Araghchi further said that like many other independent nations, Iran is also a “victim of illegal expansionism and warmongering” stating that these are the “ugly things which have no place in today’s world.”

He attacked the US stating that those who pursue reckless adventures may believe it furthers their geopolitical interests “but as consumers and governments around the world now sense and understand, regional instability is a lose-lose proposition for all sides – including the aggressors.”
