The Nigerian Army has disclosed plans to begin its 2026 Combat Arms Training Week at the Jaji Military Cantonment from May 4 to 8, with a free medical outreach for residents as part of activities lined up for the exercise.
The Army said the annual training was aimed at enhancing combat readiness, operational efficiency and tactical proficiency of its formations and units.
Speaking with Blueprint on Friday, the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Headquarters Infantry Corps Centre, Polycarp Okoye, said a free medical outreach would be conducted for residents of Birnin Yero community on May 2.
He said the outreach, scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., was part of the Army’s civil-military engagement efforts.
“The exercise will also provide an opportunity for the Army to assess ongoing operations across various theatres and review strategies aimed at addressing prevailing security challenges,” he said.
He urged residents of Jaji and neighbouring communities not to panic at the sound of gunshots during the training period.
The Army also advised farmers, hunters, and other users of the cantonment range to stay away from designated training areas for safety reasons.
