Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 12 Brigade have rescued kidnapped victims abducted from the Daarul-Kitab Islamic Orphanage in Kogi State and intercepted a suspected terrorist ammunition courier during separate security operations conducted on May 6, 2026.
The military operation, carried out under Operation Tiger Paw II, targeted criminal hideouts within the Agbaja Forest area of Lokoja Local Government Area, where the victims were reportedly being held by their abductors.

According to military authorities, the rescued victims included children and adult women who were kidnapped during the April 26 attack on the Daarul-Kitab Islamic Orphanage located in the Zariagi axis of Lokoja. The victims were immediately evacuated to the 12 Brigade Medical Centre for treatment after their rescue.

Army officials confirmed that all rescued victims are currently in stable condition and receiving proper medical attention.
Speaking on the operation, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 12 Brigade, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, said the successful rescue followed sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated ground operations by troops deployed in the area.

He noted that the Nigerian Army remains committed to flushing out criminal elements threatening peace and security across Kogi State and the wider North Central region.
In a separate operation along the Obajana–Lokoja Road, troops intercepted a suspected terrorist ammunition courier identified as Yahaya Umar.
