BATOGD Rallies Supporters For APC Primaries After ‘Stay-Away’ Order

The Bola Ahmed Tinubu/Otunba Gbenga Daniel (BATOGD) Movement has urged its members across Ogun State to fully mobilise for the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, following what it described as a strategic “stay-away” directive during the senatorial primary.

The group said the directive, issued ahead of the exercise, was a preventive measure designed to avert possible violence and maintain order within the party’s electoral process.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the movement commended its members for complying with the instruction, insisting that the action helped prevent what it described as a potential breakdown of law and order during the contest.

It also praised former Ogun State Governor, Gbenga Daniel, for allegedly accepting counsel from stakeholders within the group, describing his stance as one that prioritised peace over political ambition.

According to the statement, the decision to step back from full participation in the senatorial primary reflected a commitment to internal stability within the All Progressives Congress (APC), while reinforcing the importance of non-violence in the political process.

The movement maintained that its intervention helped “avert what could have escalated into political bloodshed,” adding that peace and unity must remain central to the party’s internal democracy.

It reaffirmed loyalty to the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom it described as the symbol of cohesion within the ruling party. Bola Ahmed Tinubu

“The Movement remains committed to internal democracy, party unity, and the leadership vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the statement read.

Looking ahead, BATOGD called on its supporters to intensify mobilisation for the remaining APC primary exercises, particularly the governorship and other strategic party contests.

It stressed that active participation in the upcoming processes was necessary to strengthen the party’s structure and ensure wider stakeholder engagement across Ogun State.

The statement, jointly signed by 37 political and community leaders from Ijebu, Remo, Sagamu, Ikenne, Odogbolu and Ogun Waterside, reaffirmed the group’s commitment to peace, unity, and democratic discipline within the APC.

BATOGD further insisted that its actions were guided by the need to protect lives and preserve political stability within the party.
