The All Progressives Congress has barred its teams coordinating the ongoing primaries from announcing the results.
The National Organising Secretary of the party, Sulaiman Muhammad, made this known in a statement he signed on Sunday.
According to Muhammad, the announcement of results by the teams runs contrary to the procedures of the party.
The Eagle Online recalls that several teams that coordinated the primaries for the House of Representatives on Saturday announced its outcomes.
This has sparked protest from aspirants who felt they should have been declared the winners of faulted the process adopted.
The primaries for the Senate is to be held on Monday (today).
Muhammad, in a memo to all the Chairmen of the National Assembly Primary Election Committees, said established procedures exist for the collation and announcement of results arising from the National Assembly Primary Elections.
He listed the procedures as Ward Collation, Local Government Area (LGA) Collation, Designated Constituency Collation Centres, and Submission of results and reports to the National Headquarters.
In the memo that was copied to state chairmen of the party, he added: “Accordingly, no committee is permitted to conduct media briefings with their respective states of assignment.
“Any official briefing, where shall be conducted exclusively in Abuja after the submission of all results.
“Please be guided accordingly.”
