President Bola Tinubu has promised to work with lawmakers to create state police across Nigeria. He made the vow while receiving Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang and a delegation at the Presidential Villa on Wednesday.….....
Tinubu said the country must end the endless killings that leave families in pain. “For us to stop creating widows, widowers and orphans, there must be peace,” he declared. “We are going to work together through the legislators who are here to establish state police on a national scale.”
He explained that state police will help enforce laws and tackle security challenges, especially in Plateau where banditry and communal clashes have claimed many lives. The President also approved N2 billion for immediate relief to victims and ordered security agencies to fish out those sponsoring the violence.
Tinubu urged Plateau leaders to promote peace and include all residents in governance. Many Nigerians say this fresh push for state police is long overdue as insecurity continues to claim innocent lives daily.
