In a recent interview on Channels TV, Ann-kio Briggs, a human rights activist and Rivers elder stateswoman, addressed the ongoing uncertainty in Rivers State politics, particularly the conflicting statements surrounding reconciliation efforts among key political actors.…....
During the interview, Briggs stated, “Fubara said, ‘Everything has been sorted out,’ and Wike replied, ‘Nothing has been sorted out.’” She made the remark while discussing the contradictory messages coming from political leaders in the state.
Briggs explained that such conflicting statements have continued to create confusion among Rivers people regarding the true state of political reconciliation and stability.
She noted that Governor Siminalayi Fubara has at different times expressed optimism about resolving political tensions, while contrasting remarks from other political actors suggest that disagreements remain unresolved.
According to her, this inconsistency has contributed to growing uncertainty about governance and party relations in Rivers State.
The activist also referenced the role of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, stating that his political influence continues to shape conversations around peace efforts and political alignments.
Briggs maintained that Rivers people deserve clarity and honesty from their leaders, especially on issues that affect governance and democratic stability.
She concluded by warning that sustained political contradictions could deepen mistrust among citizens and further complicate efforts to achieve lasting reconciliation in the state.
