The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has zones its 2027 presidential ticket, for a single four-year term, to southern Nigeria.

The decision followed the approval of a motion proposed at Afam Victor Ogene, the party’s national convention, the member representing Ogbaru Constituency of Anambra state in the house of representatives.

Delegates at the convention approved the motion

Also, it was determined that following the completion of the four-year term, the presidential ticket will be automatically allocated to the North.

The resolution has paved the way for Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra state, along with other southern candidates, to proceed to purchase the party’s presidential nomination form ahead of the primaries.

Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano state recently defected to the NDC.
