Concerned Stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in Gombe State have thrown their weight behind the recent consensus method adopted in the emergence of all candidates of the party in the 2027 general elections.

The group, in a statement issued on Tuesday, 5 May, 2026, described the process as most democratic, fair and just to all those who played one role or the other in the process.

The statement, made available to journalists, contained that, “We, the undersigned members and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State, deem it necessary to address recent developments following the conclusion of the consensus process for the emergence of candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.”

According to the group,”At the outset, we reaffirmed our full endorsement of the outcome of the widely consultative and constitutionally grounded process that produced Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna as the consensus governorship candidate of our great party.”

It stressed that, “We particularly commend the maturity, discipline, and sense of responsibility demonstrated by aspirants who have accepted the outcome in good faith.”

The group stated that, “Dr. Umaru Kwairanga, in his message to supporters, humbly accepted the decision and urged continued optimism, noting that “Gaba ya fi baya, In sha Allah,” while expressing pride in those who stood by him throughout the process.”

Also, “Similarly, Mal. Muhammad Gambo Magaji acknowledged the outcome as an act of faith and party loyalty, affirming his “total belief in the will of God who gives power to whosoever He wishes,” and went further to pledge full support to the party’s candidate while directing his supporters to work towards victory at all levels.”

The group added that, “In the same spirit, Dr. Aminu Umaru Yuguda described the process as “peaceful, transparent and rancour-free,” and not only congratulated the candidate but also pledged his “full support and loyalty” while urging his supporters to remain calm, steadfast, and united.”

According to the group,”These statements clearly reflect the core values of our party, discipline, respect for process, and commitment to the collective good above individual ambition.”

“It is therefore with concern that we observe contrary reactions from a few aspirants who chose not to participate in the consensus meetings but have subsequently questioned the legitimacy of the outcome”.

The group stressed that, “Participation is fundamental to ownership, and it is difficult to reconcile voluntary absence with post-process .”

It therefore called, “Let us be clear, the consensus option remains a lawful and recognized mechanism within the constitution of our party. It is intended to promote unity, reduce internal conflict, and position the party strongly for electoral success.”

It added, “We also reiterate that the party has not foreclosed any constitutional pathway. Any aspirant who is dissatisfied retains the right to test their popularity through the direct primary process, in line with the Electoral Act and party guidelines.”

“However, what must be avoided at all costs, is any attempt to undermine party cohesion or create unnecessary divisions at a time when unity is most needed”.

The group stressed that, “At this critical moment, we call on all stakeholders to close ranks, avoid inflammatory rhetoric, and work collectively towards ensuring victory for our great party.”

It stressed that, “The APC in Gombe State has always emerged stronger from moments like this. This should be no exception. Together, we move forward.”
