“Consumers Paid For Properties Not Delivered” — FCCPC Seals Ochacho, Ti’Bilon Abuja Offices Over Alleged Failure To Obey Redress Orders

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has sealed the Abuja offices of two real estate firms over alleged non-compliance with the commission’s orders.

The companies are Ochacho Group Worldwide and Ti’Bilon Construction, Real Estate and Facility Management Company.

Marvin Nadah, Deputy Director of Surveillance and Investigations at the FCCPC, who spoke during the enforcement operation in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Thursday, said the companies failed to comply with the commission’s directives to provide redress to affected consumers.

Nadah said some consumers paid for properties that were not delivered, while another case involved a refund ordered by the commission that was not honoured by one of the firms.

“I will say this is a continuation of the commission’s effort at stopping obnoxious and exploitative practices in this sector of the economy against consumers,” he said.

“So, we have issued orders through a compliance notice to these entities that you have seen today and the other one which we visited.

“In those orders, we directed certain actions to be taken to provide redress to consumer complaints that were before us.

“That is in line with our law, provided in Section 154 of the FCCP Act.

“However, these entities did not comply, and as a result of non-compliance, we have sealed their business premises.”

Nadah said the compliance notices were issued to the companies in June 2025.

“Between then and now, the FCCPC has had certain conversations with the entities; however, they still failed to comply,” he said.

He added that the offices would remain sealed until the companies comply with the commission’s directives.

Nadah also advised consumers to carefully review and understand agreements offered by real estate firms and other businesses before making payments or subscribing to services.
