Edo Police Rescue Kidnap Victim, Arrest Five Suspects

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have rescued a kidnapped victim, identified as Jemila Ibrahim, and arrested five suspected kidnappers linked to her abduction.

According to a statement by the Edo State Police Command spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, on Tuesday, the victim was rescued during sustained bush combing operations carried out by security operatives around Okpege River Road in Iyuku on May 13, 2026.

The police said Jemila Ibrahim was abducted on May 10, 2026, but was rescued unharmed during the operation.

Following her rescue, she was taken to a hospital for medical attention.

The command identified the suspects arrested in connection with the incident as Nura Saminu, 24; Shaibu Isah, 23; Suraj Sabitu, 23; Yajubu Sagiru, 23; and Oseni Abdullahi, 26.

Police authorities said the suspects are currently in custody and would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, CP Monday Agbonika, commended the operatives involved in the rescue operation for their efforts.

He also reassured residents of the command’s commitment to sustaining the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
