Residents of Oke Egan in the Ilogbo-Eremi area of Badagry, Lagos State, have been left in shock after the body of an elderly woman, identified as Victoria Adegoke, was found inside a bush on Friday morning.
According to reports from the community, the woman, popularly known as Noibi, was found naked, raising suspicions that she may have been raped and killed by unknown attackers.
Sources said the elderly woman had attended a church programme at The Joy of Christ Ministry, also known as Ayo Jesu Church, on Thursday night before the tragic incident happened. She was reportedly attacked while returning home in the early hours of Friday.
Residents who discovered her body described the incident as painful and heartbreaking. Some people in the area claimed there were signs of violence on her body, while her clothes were missing from the scene.
A resident who spoke anonymously said the attackers allegedly took away her phone, but her Bible and ATM card were later found close to where her body was discovered.
The sad incident has created fear among residents of the community, with many calling on security agencies to find those responsible for the crime.
Community members also appealed to the Lagos State Police Command to carry out a proper investigation and bring the killers to justice.
As of the time this report was filed, police authorities had not officially announced any arrest connected to the case. However, residents hope the matter will be fully investigated.
