Enugu PDP Appeal Panel Upholds Disqualification of Senatorial Aspirant Nicholas Ozonsi

The Appeal Panel of the Peoples Democratic Party in Enugu State has affirmed the disqualification of senatorial aspirant, Elder Nicholas Ozonsi, from participating in the forthcoming PDP senatorial primaries.

In a press release issued after the National Assembly and State House of Assembly Screening Appeal Panel sitting held on May 15, 2026, at the PDP State Secretariat along Bisalla Road in Enugu, the panel stated that the aspirant failed to file any petition or appeal within the timeframe provided by the party’s guidelines.

According to the statement, the panel reviewed all submissions and records arising from the screening exercise conducted on May 13, 2026, and confirmed that aggrieved aspirants were given adequate opportunity to challenge decisions reached by the Screening Committee.

The panel ruled that since Ozonsi did not activate the appeal process or submit any supporting documents before the expiration of the appeal window, the earlier decision of the Screening Committee remained “valid, binding, and enforceable.”

Chairman of the Appeal Panel, Hon Benjamin Eze, said the panel was guided strictly by due process, fairness, and the provisions of the party’s constitutional guidelines in reaching its decision.

The statement, signed by the panel secretary, Hon Innocent Ogenyi, further reaffirmed that all disqualifications earlier communicated by the Screening Committee would remain effective where no formal appeal was lodged in line with party procedures.
