34 Years Later: Taraba Police Finally Receive Permanent Command Headquarters

The Taraba State Police Command has officially acquired its first permanent headquarters more than three decades after the creation of the state, marking a major milestone in the history of policing and security administration in Taraba.

The newly completed headquarters was commissioned in Jalingo during a ceremony attended by senior police officers, government officials, and other stakeholders. Since Taraba State was created in 1991, the command had operated from temporary office accommodation, making this its first purpose-built permanent headquarters after approximately 34 years.

Speaking at the commissioning, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, represented by Assistant Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu, described the project as a significant achievement for the Nigeria Police Force. He noted that the modern facility would improve operational efficiency, enhance coordination among security personnel, and provide a better working environment for officers serving in the state.

The IGP also urged officers and personnel of the command to maintain the facility and ensure it is used effectively in delivering quality policing services. He further called on residents, traditional rulers, and community leaders to continue supporting the police by providing timely and credible information to strengthen security across Taraba State.

The project was executed with support from the Nigeria Police Trust Fund as part of ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to improve police infrastructure and enhance internal security nationwide.

Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, represented at the event, commended the Nigeria Police Force and other partners for the successful completion of the project. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies through improved logistics, collaboration, and investments aimed at ensuring the safety of lives and property.
