Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has named a 26-man squad for the 2026 Unity Cup and a separate 25-man squad for upcoming international friendly matches against Poland and Portugal.
The Unity Cup group features seven NPFL-based players alongside several fresh call-ups, while the friendly squad is built around established senior internationals as Nigeria continue preparations for upcoming competitions.
NPFL players earn Unity Cup call-ups
The domestic contingent includes Michael Atata, Aderemi Adeoye and Tosin Oyedokun, all from Ikorodu United.
Rangers are represented by Chibueze Oputa and Obinna Igboke, while Elias Ochobi of Rivers United and Shooting Stars’ Ayobami Junior complete the NPFL selections.
Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo headlines the new invitees and is expected to make his debut. Oseni Owen, Femi Azeez and Zadok Yohanna have also been included in the Unity Cup squad.
Senior core selected for Poland and Portugal friendlies
For the international friendlies, Chelle named a more experienced group as Nigeria aim for strong performances against Poland and Portugal.
The squad includes goalkeepers Maduka Okoye, Francis Uzoho and Arthur Okonkwo, while Stanley Nwabali is absent.
The defensive unit features Bruno Onyemaechi, Zaidu Sanusi, Bright Osayi Samuel, Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi, Emmanuel Fernandez and Igoh Ogbu. Ola Aina misses out through injury.
In midfield, captain Wilfred Ndidi leads Alex Iwobi, Frank Onyeka, Fisayo Dele Bashiru, Raphael Onyedika, Tochukwu Nnadi and Alhassan Yusuf.
Victor Osimhen leads the attack, supported by Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Paul Onuachu, Akor Adams, Terem Moffi and Oseni Owen. Kelechi Iheanacho is not included despite strong club form.
Unity Cup schedule confirmed
Nigeria, winners of the 2025 edition, will compete in the 2026 Unity Cup from May 26 to May 30 at The Valley in London.
They will face Zimbabwe in the semi-finals and could meet either Jamaica or India in the final if they progress.
