Falcons’ Shukurat Oladipo Named Best Defender in Italy, Selected for Team of the Season

Super Falcons of Nigeria and AS Roma Women defender Shukurat Oladipo has been named the Best Defender in Serie A Femminile for the 2025/26 season.

Oladipo played a huge role in Roma’s title-winning campaign, making 18 league appearances as the club secured their third league title in history. while she was on the pitch, Roma conceded only nine goals, showing how important she was to the team defensively.

Roma also remained unbeaten in the league during her appearances, keeping eight clean sheets across the 18 matches she played. her brilliant performances throughout the season also earned her a place in the Serie A Femminile Team of the Season.

Super happy for Shukurat Oladipo. She moved from FC Robo Queens straight into the heart of Italian and European football in 2025, and she has continued to grow from strength to strength.

The 21 years old defender wasn’t a starter at first, but after her coach saw her performances and became impressed with her quality, it became very difficult to leave her out of the starting lineup.

Ever since she broke into the team, nobody could bench her anymore because of her defensive abilities, composure, strength, and consistency at the back.

Fans can’t wait to see her become a regular starter for the Nigeria women’s national football team because she has really developed into a top defender.

Playing in one of the best women’s leagues in the world against quality opponents week in, week out, has improved her game a lot.

She has also tasted UEFA Women’s Champions League football, facing elite players and top European teams, which is very important for her growth and experience.

Shukurat Oladipo is truly the future of the Super Falcons defence. She has all it takes to become one of the leaders of the team and even wear the captain’s armband in the future.

Many are really looking forward to seeing her become a starter at the 2026 WAFCON and also represent Nigeria at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
