Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has commended the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary elections in Rivers State as President Bola Tinubu emerged the winner.
Fubara, who served as the State Collation Officer for the primaries, made the commendation on Saturday in Port Harcourt.
This was after the collation of results from the 23 local government areas of the state.
The governor said that President Bola Tinubu emerged winner of the exercise in Rivers State, polling a total of 280,082 votes.
He explained that APC had 297,068 registered members in the state, but 280,082 members were accredited for the primaries.
Fubara said that all accredited members voted for Tinubu, leaving his only opponent, Stanley Osifo, without any vote.
He said: “I feel that this process has recorded one of the most organised outings of our great party in recent times.
“The only reason it came out this way has to do with good planning.
“In all, I want to say that I am really impressed with the process.”
The governor stated that after a diligent review of the figures, he could certify that the results represented the true and accurate summary of votes from the 23 local government areas.
Fubara added that the report of the primary election would be forwarded to the APC national headquarters in Abuja for a formal declaration of the results.
