Former AAC governorship candidate in Anambra State, Chioma Ifemeludike, has stirred reactions online after mocking Governor Charles Soludo over severe flooding recorded in parts of the state following heavy rainfall.
In a viral post, Chioma sarcastically described the flooded road as a “new swimming pool project” allegedly delivered by Governor Soludo, whom she mockingly referred to as “Governor Amuneke” and “Solution.”
According to her:
“Ndi Anambra, Governor ‘Amuneke’ Aka Soludo Has Now Made Relaxation Easy And Cheap😩. Ndi Ogidi, Njikoka, Ofor Igwe And Umunachi, You No Longer Need To Go To Awka Fun City To Swim. This Swimming Pool Is The Latest Project By Governor ‘Amuneke’, Aka Solution Of Anambra State. When The People Themselves Sell Their Votes For Crumbs, Suffering And Hardship Become Inevitable…”
The post came amid complaints from residents over worsening flooding and poor drainage systems in several communities across Anambra State during the rainy season.
However, her comments triggered mixed reactions online, as some residents blamed poor environmental habits by citizens, while others faulted the government for failing to provide proper infrastructure.
Reacting to the situation, X user @bros_aik wrote:
“You blocked the drainages and you are blaming the governor. Are you people serious?”
Another user, @SmRevolu, added:
“Everybody destroying Nigeria today is still a citizen of Nigeria. Until we start holding ourselves accountable, real change will remain difficult.”
Some residents claimed the flooding problem has existed for years.
“This particular road has been like this since time immemorial,” @Armani_szn commented.
Sharing a personal experience, @ichrisonuora wrote:
“Haha, my brother’s car steering failed here today (too much water) 😭😭, we were just talking about it.”
Others used the opportunity to call attention to wider infrastructure challenges in the state.
“What about us that are in Ogbaru we don’t have electricity and our roads have never been constructed yet,” @EkeneUdogwu lamented.
Another user, @lokky_xy, stressed the need for long-term solutions:
“This is painful to watch. Anambra has serious flooding issues every rainy season. Government needs to invest seriously in drainage systems and urban planning. Political mockery aside, the people are suffering.”
