Three people have died in a suspected hantavirus outbreak aboard the MV Hondius during a voyage from Argentina to Cape Verde. One case is confirmed, five more are under investigation, and a British passenger remains in intensive care. The ship is operated by Oceanwide Expeditions.

Officials say a 70-year-old passenger died on board, followed by his 69-year-old wife after evacuation to South Africa. Hantavirus is usually linked to rodent exposure, though rare person-to-person spread can occur. The World Health Organization is coordinating response efforts.
