Engr. Ucheonwu Prince Henry Hart has thrown his hat into the ring for the Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency seat, promising to turn the constituency’s untapped wealth into visible development.

He said his decision was rooted in the painful contradiction of a region blessed with enormous agricultural and mineral potential but burdened by poverty, poor infrastructure and insecurity.

“We cannot keep sitting on wealth and living in poverty. Something has to change, and it has to be deliberate,” Hart said.

Addressing the audience at Uzo-Uwani, the aspirant said the plights of the people of the area convinced him that the time had come for a new approach to leadership.

The politician who has more than three decades experience in the oil and gas industry said he has built a career as a senior quality, health, safety, security and environmental executive.

Stressing why he anchored his campaign on competence, accountability and practical solutions, he said leadership must be built on preparation and strategic thinking.

“Leadership is not guesswork. You plan, study the environment and act with clarity,” he said.

Hart dismissed emphasis on certificates: “Certificates don’t build roads. What matters is how knowledge is applied to solve real problems.”

Responding to his listeners who expressed concerns about poor roads, insecurity and a lack of economic opportunities that continued to force young people out of their communities in search of greener pastures, he said, “When young people are leaving because they see no future at home; leadership has failed somewhere.”
