“He said I treated him like his late mother” — Woman shares how caring for boyfriend led to marriage within one year

A woman has sparked reactions online after revealing how simple acts of care during her relationship allegedly convinced her husband to marry her within one year.

The woman, whose story circulated on social media, explained that she began cooking and doing laundry for her partner from her second visit to his home while they were still dating.

According to her, she was not trying to impress him or pretend to be someone else, but was simply expressing herself naturally through acts of service and care.

She disclosed that within four months of dating, her boyfriend started comparing the way she treated him to the care he received from his late mother.

Relationship moved quickly

When I started dating my husband, I started doing his laundry and cooking his meals from my second visit. I wasn’t pretending, I was just being myself and caring for the man I loved,” she said.

He later told me that I treated him like his late mother and would even call my name together with his surname. Sometimes he asked if I would take care of our future children the same way I cared for him,” she added.

Proposal came after one year

The woman further revealed that her partner proposed to her exactly one year after they started dating.

He told me he had seen what he wanted to see and couldn’t risk wasting time because no other woman had treated him that way without being begged,” she recounted.

Conversations around love languages, traditional gender roles and acts of service in relationships have frequently generated debate on Nigerian social media platforms in recent years.
