A young Ghanaian woman has recounted how she reported a man to the authorities after he allegedly threatened to kidnap and sexually assault her when she refused to give him her phone number.…....
According to her account, the incident occurred while she was on her way to purchase prepaid credit. She explained that she was approached by a foreign national who requested her contact details. When she declined to share her phone number, the situation reportedly escalated into a disturbing confrontation.
She stated that although the man appeared to be joking at first, his comments quickly became threatening. The woman alleged that he told her he would kidnap and impregnate her if she continued to refuse his request. Shocked by the nature of the statement, she said she did not dismiss it as a harmless joke and instead took immediate action.
Rather than ignoring the incident, she reported the matter to the appropriate authorities and filed an official complaint. She maintained that she believed the threat was serious enough to warrant legal attention, especially given the specific and violent nature of the alleged remarks.
Following her complaint, the man was reportedly arrested by law enforcement officers for further investigation. The case has since drawn attention to issues surrounding harassment, personal safety, and the importance of reporting threats, even when they are made in a casual or joking tone.
The woman emphasised that many people often overlook such incidents, assuming that individuals making such statements do not mean harm. However, she insisted that her decision to act was based on the need to protect herself and ensure that such behaviour is not normalised.
