Tinubu doesn’t trust me because I supported Obi in 2023 – Cubana Chief Priest

Socialite and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu “does not really trust” him, a situation he believes affected his chances of securing the APC ticket for the Imo house of representatives seat.

Last Saturday, Cubana failed to emerge as the party’s candidate for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East federal constituency ahead of the forthcoming elections.

The socialite later explained that he voluntarily withdrew from the race shortly before voting commenced after consultations with party leaders regarding zoning arrangements, which he said did not favour his local government area.

Speaking during a Twitch livestream session with popular streamer Peller, Cubana said Tinubu remains suspicious of him because he previously campaigned for Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election.

“As I am now, Tinubu does not really trust me because I am an Igbo man that I am. He is looking at me with one eye that ‘this one that I once worked for Peter Obi’. I worked for Obi during the last election,” he said.

“I checked it, and I do not want to lose again. Because they say the first fool is not a fool, it is only on the second time you become a proper fool.

“Peter Obi cannot win. I do not see him ready. The people who are more ready will win.

“This is strategy and a game plan. I have calculated that I do not want to fumble again.”

Cubana also revealed that leaders within the All Progressives Congress (APC) advised him to step aside before the primaries because “it wasn’t yet my time.”

In February, Cubana Chief Priest, whose real name is Pascal Okechukwu, was appointed director of the City Boy Movement (CBM) in Imo State.
