The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has sparked widespread reactions online following comments he made about his marital journey after the birth of twins with his first queen, Olori Mariam.
The queen recently welcomed a set of twins with the monarch, a development that was met with celebration across Ile-Ife and beyond, as well-wishers gathered to rejoice with the royal family.
In a video circulating on social media, the traditional ruler was seen in the company of guests who visited to celebrate the newborns, with the atmosphere filled with songs and jubilation.
During his remarks, the monarch reflected on past challenges, stating that he once faced intense public speculation about his ability to have children. He mentioned that there were claims questioning his fertility, and that he was even confronted over such rumours.
He further explained that at a point, he had been married for about eight years without a child, a situation that led to public gossip and personal struggles. According to him, he continued to pray during the difficult period despite doubts and pressure.
The Ooni added that after eventually having children, what he described as divine intervention also brought reconciliation and the return of someone who had previously left.
Following the video, reactions poured in on social media, with many users debating his statements. Some questioned the timeline of events involving his former queens, while others discussed whether children born before his ascension to the throne were being considered in the narrative. Others accused the monarch of being selective in his account, sparking further online debate.

@thomasgeorg6:”What manner of Royal Lamber is this? Naomi gave birth on time. And the seven doors are still open.
@abismum4040:”I don’t understand this narration. What about Naomi’s child and the other 2 Oloris from the seven doors. I think Kabiyesi is just too happy about Olori Mariam
@mamazzeeee:”The children he had before the throne don’t count?”
