According to a report by News Central TV, the former Governor of Rivers State and former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has expressed high confidence that he will clinch the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 general elections.
Amaechi made the declaration on Monday, May 25, 2026, directly after casting his vote in the party’s nationwide direct presidential primary election.
He participated in the exercise at Ward 5 in his native community of Ubima, located within the Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Amaechi was seen standing among a large crowd of local voters and party faithful as the ballots were processed.
Pointing to the massive voter turnout in his immediate locality, Amaechi stated that the sheer volume of visible local support is a clear indicator of his impending victory.
Addressing reporters on the ground, Amaechi said:
“I am sure I will win the election. You saw the crowd that came out. They have counted.”
The ADC presidential primary is being conducted simultaneously across all 8,809 wards in the country using the Option A4 direct voting system, where accredited party members queue openly behind their preferred candidates.
While Amaechi praised the orderly, inclusive layout of the election within his own ward, he expressed strong reservations regarding whether that same level of transparency was being maintained in other states across the federation.
