The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jungunu Mohammed, has publicly rejected the recognition of Adolphus Wabara as the current Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), insisting instead that Senator Mao Ohuabunwa holds the legitimate position........…
Mohammed made the assertion during an interview on .... Arise News Television, where he raised concerns over what he described as inconsistencies surrounding the leadership of the PDP BoT. He questioned the basis on which Wabara is being presented as the chairman, arguing that such recognition does not align with the party’s current internal arrangements.
In his remarks, Mohammed stated clearly that the party does not acknowledge Wabara in that capacity. “I do not recognize Adolphus Wabara as the BoT Chairman of the PDP. We have Senator Mao Ohuabunwa,” he said, emphasizing his position on the matter.
The controversy comes amid ongoing tensions .... within the PDP leadership structure, particularly following recent developments involving the party’s Board of Trustees. The BoT, under the leadership attributed to Wabara, had reportedly moved to assume an alternative leadership role within the party.
This action followed a Supreme Court decision .... that upheld the nullification of the PDP National Convention, a ruling that has continued to generate internal disputes and competing interpretations among party stakeholders.
Responding to the BoT’s intervention, Mohammed criticized the move and suggested it could deepen existing divisions within the party. He alleged that the decision was politically motivated and warned that it could lead to further instability.
“What Wabara is trying to do is to have a repeat of what happened in November last year,” Mohammed said during the interview. “I can tell him that he will get it exactly the way he wants it.”
