Veteran Nigerian actor Dele Odule has shared a deeply emotional experience from his past, revealing that he once went as far as pricing his own casket during a period of intense personal and career despair.
Odule, a respected Nollywood actor with decades of experience in stage and screen performance, made the revelation in an interview with Feelright TV, where he spoke about some of the most difficult phases of his life.
He explained that the incident occurred when he felt overwhelmed and had completely lost hope about achieving further success in the film industry. According to him, fellow actor Olaiya Igwe was with him at the time.
“I had priced my own casket before, when I was in a state of hopelessness, and complete loss of hope. Olaiya Igwe went there with me. Olaiya started crying like a baby,” he said. Odule clarified that he was not suffering from any illness, but was mentally and emotionally drained due to frustration over his career not progressing as expected.
“I wasn’t sick, I just believed I can no longer have breakthroughs in the industry. I was fed up. Because all my school mates are doing far better than me and my life was nothing to write home about,” he added.
